Hello Friends,
It's a beautiful Spring in the
Sunny Okanagan Valley, and we bring you more good
news and fun stuff to explore.
The kids are soon going to be out of school for the
summer. In this edition we offer some tips on
preparing your computer for the increased
traffic.
Finally, we cover the explosion of new television
content on the web. Everyone from CBS to local
providers are rushing to tune you in to the
net.
Sincerely,
Keith Schiehl

| Help! I Can't Open or View Attachments! |
 |
|
If you are unable to open email attachments, it is
usually one of two reasons. Either your security
settings are blocking the attachment, or you don’t
have the required program installed to view the
attachment. Whichever the cause, we have the
solution!

| Savings on Parts and Upgades! |
 |
|
The Rent-A-Geek Team is pleased to announce that
we have aligned with several wholesale parts
suppliers out of Vancouver.
What does that mean
for you? We are able to acquire and provide most
any computer part at a price less than the big-box
discount stores. If we don't have a part in stock,
they can be received before noon the next day!

| Budgeting Computer Time |
 |
|
The kids will soon be home for the summer, which
means that there will be an increase in competition
for time on the family computer.
Fortunately there are two excellent programs which
provide parents with the tools needed to keep the
peace AND protect the computer (and kids) from
inappropriate content.
Safe Eyes
and Content
Protect are both great tools to assign allowable
content access for specific users in the house. More
importantly, both software packages have a time
budgeting feature that limits the amount of
online time per user, per day.
Book an On-Site appointment today with the Rent-A-
Geek Team, and we will properly install and configure
either software in your home or office!

| Television and the Net Continue to Merge |

CBS Corp. has released a broadband channel that will
feature original programming, supplements to popular
shows, classics and encores of prime-time shows.
Initially, Innertube will feature original content. In the
coming months, CBS television programs will be
added. Advertising will be the channel's main source
of revenue. Wat

Local content providers OKBC.tv launched a new site
last year to provide a video almanac of news and
entertainment. Topics covered include Home,
Business, Food, Entertainment, Technology and
more! Watch OKBC.tv Now!
Finally, the site YouTube has caught the eye of
media mavens and powerbrokers from New York to
Hollywood. Video content is uploaded by
amateurs (like you and me) to independent film
makers. It is expected to be snatched up soon by
Yahoo or Google. Watch YouTube

| Interesting Security Article |

The Rent-A-Geek Team is constantly being
asked "why do people write viruses and
spyware?". "What is the
incentive?"
Malware, also known as viruses
and spyware, used to
be created by loners. Once advertisers caught on to
using spyware to sell their goods, we were slammed
with annoying pop-ups and browser hijacks with the
hopes that we will buy something. Now it’s the
criminals who are writing the majority of new
malware, with the intent of outright taking our
money.
Book an appointment with us and we will help protect
your stuff!

Tax Savings at Rent-A-Geek |

The folks in charge of PST have reversed their
previous stance on “Software and Operating System
Repairs” and, as such, we no longer have to charge
PST for 90+% of our repairs. .
As of April 2006, we are only required to charge PST
on parts and on the fraction of time when we are
installing
the part.

When it will fail is the question that nobody
can answer.

will back up your critical data (Documents, Pictures,
E-mail, Favorites, Accounting Data) to CD or DVD for
