  • Instant Messenger Threats on the Rise!
    MSN_Man

Instant Messaging (IM) services have been the target of choice for virus authors lately. AOL's AIM service was recently infiltrated with a NASTY virus that filled the PC with spyware and other viruses.

MSN has been a target as well, with the latest version of MSN being required to stop some of the threats. Yahoo is not immune to such threats either.

A recent study detailed that IM threats are up 1500% this year!!! Please make sure you have proper antivirus and a router/firewall for the best protection.

Call our office to set up an appointment and we will help protect your stuff.

Google Picasa is FREE and FUN!
    picasa

Check out Google’s photo management and editing software, Picasa, available for FREE.

This software is a must have for users of Windows 98 and ME, as it provides many of the great features introduced in XP for emailing and printing pictures. However, XP users will love it’s smoother, easy-to-use interface. The only products comparable at this level are ACDsee and Photoshop Elements (both $50).

    OpenOffice.org 2.0 Final Edition released.
    ooo2

We are seeing many customers these days who’s NEW PCs came with a 60-day trial version of Microsoft Office. Once expired, they were shocked to find the additional cost required to return to productivity and to work on their existing documents.

For these people we are recommending OpenOffice.org 2.0; an open source office suite compatible with nearly every Microsoft Office document, spreadsheet and presentation.

In fact, I am using OpenOffice.org 2.0 to write this!

Find Anything on Your Hard Drive!
    sidebar

For all the information fanatics out there, Google has introduced Google Desktop 2.0 (GD2). GD2 is a swiss- army of tools and gadgets (widgets) which run in a “side-bar” on your screen.

After install, Google Desktop 2 indexes the contents of your entire hard drive. Once indexed, GD2 can find anything (photo, email, document, etc) on your hard drive by simply typing a few words into the search window. Results are instantly returned in a Google window; just like online!

Add-on Widgets can be installed to deliver live RSS Feeds (updates and news) from your favorite web sources.
